Zanetti teases Inter fans about Milan target Zirkzee: “We could give it a little thought”

By Oliver Fisher -

Javier Zanetti has strongly hinted that Inter are part of the race to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna this summer amid links with AC Milan and other clubs.

Zirkzee has attracted a lot of interest given that he has scored 12 goals and has added seven assists in 35 appearances this season, helping Bologna towards qualification for the next edition of the Champions League.

Milan and Juventus have been repeatedly linked, while Inter were mentioned too with reports even going so far as to suggest they would offer Giovanni Fabbian and Valentin Carboni as counterparts to bring down the cash sum.

However, this morning a report from Calciomercato.com declared the Scudetto winners out of the running, because the operation overall looks too costly for them to pull off without a big sale.

Now, Zanetti has responded to a question from Radio Serie A about whether Inter could go for the 22-year-old, and his response was relayed by Radio Rossonera.

“We’re talking about a great player. Young, talented and physically strong. He would be useful to any team fighting for important goals,” he said.

“Let’s see if this opportunity presents itself, maybe we could give it a little thought. He with Thuram and Lautaro would be three strong and very young attackers.”

  1. It’s not just the hunt for the title, the hunt for targeted players is also Milan always losing to their younger half-brother. Even for the class of free players, they are not able to compete in terms of salaries.

What is Zhang’s stupid and pretentious management thinking about making the most money? Never mind, just sell the club to Zhang so that Milan doesn’t get embarrassed. Sell for free!

  2. I don’t get it. They have Martinez, Thuram and Arnautovic. Why Zirkzee? Unless they are planning on offloading Martinez for a big fee…

  3. There was an article today at 90min where the following was mentioned
“AC Milan and Juventus have both walked away from a move to sign Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee amid fears he is holding out for a transfer to Arsenal. ”

not sure if there’s truth or it’s a ChatGPT article 😀

  4. I think its a tactic first of all.
Either they get Zirkzee(not likely given their poor cash status)…
They up the price for other competing teams(us)…
resulting in problems for serie a teams signing a striker that is used to serie A.
They are signing free transfers like crazy and usually beat us by 500k per year on the salaries.

These tactics wont last forever. They will start to fail and fumble sooner than later. They are reliant on going far in all competitions for cash and that will fail eventually

    1. Ppl think its because 500k different salary, but inter offer more like sign contract money and better coach strategi. They also over fast renewal contract to up their salary if they playing good. Also salary cap in inter is higher than Milan. So 500K a yeas is only a mere bonus.
