Abate continues UEFA coaching education with Allegri – the details

By Ben Dixon -

Following last month’s session with Carlo Ancelotti, AC Milan’s Primavera head coach Ignazio Abate has been under the tutorship of another Italian coach to continue his coaching education. This time, the session was held by Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Whilst Milan’s Primavera lost the final of the UEFA Youth League, there can be no denying the quality of the side, and the quality of the coaching. The Rossoneri boast an impressive crop of youth talent, but a lot of that is down to the coaching from Abate.

Several youth players have been entrusted with making the step into the senior side, albeit just for a game due to injuries. However, if the youngsters were not good enough, they would not have featured.

Look at Jan-Carlo Simic, for example, who has impressed on numerous occasions for the senior side whilst being a stalwart for the Primavera side. Another is Kevin Zeroli, whose chances among the senior ranks have not been as frequent, but that is due to the saturation in his position and his importance to the youth team.

As MilanNews writes, Abate is continuing to further his education, and this was proved by him partaking in a UEFA course with Ancelotti at the end of April. However, in this session, the tutor was Massimiliano Allegri, who said this after.

“I’m very happy to have experienced this day of training and sharing – along with my staff – with the UEFA Pro Course boys. These moments are always stimulating and constructive because they are always an opportunity to compare and learn, training is continuous: I tried to make available some concepts and some notions related to our way of setting the weekly work in preparation for the match. A coach must always make himself available to help his players and, in this case, also his colleagues.”
